Graduate of the AAAD in Prague, Maxim Velčovský focuses on the design of products and their relationship to their surroundings. In 2002 he co-founded the Qubus design studio. His designs are characterised by particular concept work, Velčovský often gives old objects a new sense, and he calls this process ‘restarting’. He has taken part in dozens of exhibitions and his work is included in, e.g. the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Neue Pinakothek in Munich or the Mudac in Lausanne. He won the Designer of the Year award for his work in 2007.
