Introducing Divina collection

Discover Divina lighting collection in detail

A light touch of the divine, transformed into distinct colors

This poetically characterizes the new Divina lighting collection designed for BOMMA by Michaela Tomišková and Jakub Janďourek of the DECHEM design studio. Let them inspire you with their timeless concept of a spherical glass body with the delicate touch of a color gradient.

Divina lights are the younger siblings of the Phenomena Collection, referring to the Greek word for appearance. The Phenomena collection was designed by the DECHEM Studio for BOMMA in 2016, inspired by Plato’s teachings about the world of ideas and playing with basic divine geometric shapes. The new Divina collection continues this philosophical direction, this time focusing on colors. Its name also refers to perfection, which comes from the Latin divinis, meaning perfection or divinity.

Opposites That Attract

The spherical glass form containing the light source extends into a golden cylindrical mounting that also provides construction support for the lighting. The 300 mm glass ball, hand-blown by master glassmakers, perfectly highlights the delicate color gradient in fresh red orange tone, tender white or elegant smoke and purple tones. When lit, all color gradients fuse into a flood of opaque light. Thanks to this effect, Divina has two opposite facesthe first with carefully selected color shades, intended for daylight, the other its evening face, which unifies its lights into a pleasantly diffused and neutral source.

Color gradients are significant for us. It’s a technology that we use for our vases, as well as lighting and we also used it in the case of the Divina Collection.

Minimalist Construction

The construction of this new Divina collection is considerably simplified. It’s a sophisticated mechanism,” designer Jakub Janďourek comments, “It enables a unique effect of connecting the cylinder with a sphere, which is typical for both Phenomena and Divina.” Thanks to the extensive construction experience of BOMMA technicians, it was possible to design a principle that ensures further visual unity to this piece.

For Intimate Spaces

Unlike its older sibling, the Divina lights are smaller and more perfectly fit intimate interiors. Phenomena is a notable levitating ball – it’s an art object, a centerpiece in each space,” the designers explain. “Divina is comparatively smaller, especially suitable for private settings, homes and apartments.” Divina is ideal for use above a desk or dining table, thanks to the light source located within the bottom of the cylindrical mounting body. Its direct light provides the perfect conditions for work, dining or studying.

Divina is unique – artistically poetic, as well as strictly minimalistic. Its refined color gradients lend it an aura of timeless dreaminess, while remaining visually striking. Its smaller dimensions and delicate milky light easily provide a soft ambiance in any interior.
